We are committed to consulting the local community and stakeholders on each scheme we undertake, from planning through to design and construction. Each project is delivered in line with Considerate Constructor principles.
We believe in giving back and our commitment to local communities includes supporting local employment. Mears has a long-standing reputation for delivering high quality training programmes through a diverse range of regional offices and site locations, including two dedicated training academies in Rotherham and Brentwood.
Our initiatives include:
- Supporting apprenticeships - we work alongside local training providers and the Job Centre Plus to provide CITB supported Apprenticeships. We currently have 94 training Apprentices on our books.
- Developing trade skills - we offer extensive training and development programmes and regular toolbox talks covering health and safety, customer care, considerate driving, asbestos identification and other core skills.
- Providing opportunities - we are an accredited Social Mobility Champion, committed to offering fair access to all, including under-represented groups.
- Local employment and supply chain initiatives - we are committed to working with subcontractors and suppliers based locally to our projects and sourcing and procuring in the local market.
